OPELOUSAS, LA -- Due to forecasted precipitation causing possible hazardous road conditions and widespread flooding parish-wide, all schools and head start centers will dismiss early today, May 18, 2021. The overall safety of our students and employees necessitates the early dismissal of schools.
Dismissal times are as follows:
SLATS/Alternative - 1:30 PM;
MACA/BioMed - 1:40 PM;
High School/Junior High - 2:00 PM;
Head Start - 2:00 PM;
North Central/Palmetto - 2:00 PM;
Elementary/Middle Schools - 2:20 PM - 2:40 PM (This is dependent on bus arrival from first routes.);
*Car riders should contact the school for pick-up times.
We will continue to consult with school administrators, the National Weather Service, and the Office of Emergency Preparedness in the decision-making progress regarding the closing of schools.

SLP Summer school for high school students will take place from June 7, 2021 to July 1, 2021. Students will attend from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Lunch will be provided.

We do not pay tuition for those attending the LSUE Academy as we provide transportation; however, we do provide tuition for all dual enrollment taken on our school campuses in SLP and select Universities online with which we have agreements for discounted rates.
The LSUE students pay $150 per 3 credit hours (unlimited hours as long as they are SLP students) vs regular student pay $197 per credit hour.

JumpStart Summers is taking applications for their virtual Electrical Training Alliance Course, designed to prepare students for careers involving electrical skills. Open to SLP 11th & 12th grade students who have earned a grade of "C" or better in Algebra I. Students can earn up to $1,000.00!

OHS's Senior Night will be postponed until Wednesday, May 12th at 6:00pm due to a campus-wide power outage. Seniors should arrive at 5:00pm and guests should arrive at 5:30. The program will begin at 6pm in the auditorium of Opelousas High School. Thanks for your cooperation.
